Beating hearts and opera choirs quake and snap
the pulled-taut strings of my ruddy heart;
I—unsure of self—gaze upon the draining colors of the canvas,
saccharine and muted, like a pressed gut-core sung to my soul;
I have loved all I love; but
will I live to see it all again?
