and as always, I answer Her calls.

“Away! Away!” She says in Her sonorous sing-song voice. “Away! Away!” So I go—in the early morning as the dew drops dazzle in daybreak’s shine.

And as I follow the song down a long path through much green, I see a grand Belle of Georgia tree. Peaches adorn Her head—beads amongst Her braids. She tells me jokes and makes fun of my laugh. She is gorgeous and jocular and graces me with joy. I find in Her a kindred soul as we josh and jest with each other.

I wish to stay, but Destiny calls “Away! Away!” So I hug my friend, say, “Good day,” then continue on my way.

And as I wander through the forest, I find a Ray of darkness. He sits in a nook beneath a tree perusing a book of poetry. Despite His affinity for black, He is ravishing and reverent and shares with me his reading. I find in Him a kindred soul as He reads me a poem about death and suffering and love.

I wish to stay, but Destiny calls “Away! Away!” So I hug my friend, say, “Good day,” then continue on my way.

And as I wander into a field, I see the Amber sun is now at full height. She comes down to say hello, almost too hot and too bright, yet Her smile warms my soul. She is amicable and alluring and amazes me with her attention. I find in Her a kindred soul as She gives me words of encouragement that fuel me more than the most filling food.

I wish to stay, but Destiny calls “Away! Away!” So I hug my friend, say, “Good day,” then continue on my way.

And as I wander into a copse, I meet a queen bee who says her name is Maddie. She dances, She sings, She bumbles. She offers me honey and She tells me I’m not alone. She’s marvelous and amenable and makes me feel loved. I find in Her a kindred soul as we savor the succulent snack.

I wish to stay, but Destiny calls “Away! Away!” So I hug my friend, say, “Good day,” then continue on my way.

And I reach the sea, the endless waters spread before me. And I wade into the waves, waving goodbye to my friends as I follow Destiny’s call.
